Betty Page, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe. Hearing these names, reading them in print, calls up so many iconic images, takes us back to a certain place and time: the golden age of Hollywood. The photos of these incredible women evoke a certain nostalgia for a specific female archetype. They were beautiful, sure, but they also exuded strength and worldly intelligence, a power through beauty mentality that burned straight through pillars of masculinity like Frank Sinatra, Joe DiMaggio, and Arthur Miller. It is often forgotten that these women were all too human because their images have been forever immortalized in print. They are forever the sultry sirens of pin-up. The Tri-Community Photography Association is very proud to present one of our own, Tim Hunter, talking about Retro Pin-Up in the Digital Age. Tim is doing a superb job of reviving the pin-up format using the technology of today and a back-to-basics way of shooting. He is an excellent speaker and when talking about his work, his passion and knowledge shine and it’s impossible to walk away without having learned something. Tim also has a lot of experience in creating and nurturing a growing client base and his pin-up models, the beautiful “Hunny Bunnies”, continue to grow in number. It’s time to bring the pin-up style back. It’s not just about a woman’s beauty, but her ability to own it. Hope to see you there.
