The studio is a great place to work and create. In the studio you have the freedom to adjust your own lighting schemes, to set up props and set designs. In the studio you have control. Sometimes photographers get too comfortable in the studio where they have the ability to manipulate their subjects as needed and keep the air conditioning cranked up. (more…)

Ah yes, the picture of the out-of-focus bride standing in front of her in-focus adoring husband, the picture of the ring on the bride’s finger, and the one of the couple holding hands, walking off into the sunset. These are all beautiful pictures, to be sure. They have their place in any wedding album, but did you ever think a little more creativity can be infused in your wedding photography? (more…)

If everyone can do it, why would they go to you?
We live in the age of Flash Photography. Not ‘flash’ as in the burst of light that comes from the camera, but ‘flash’ as in fast. Pictures are taken, edited, and posted to the internet faster than a person can say, “Cheese.” Now, more than ever, photography is the everyman’s medium of the art world. Everyone has a camera, everyone can take pictures, and everyone can have those pictures seen by a large number of people, immediately. (more…)

Storage is a difficult business. It doesn’t matter if it’s storing clothes, books, art, or vintage Elvis Presley dinner plates. Space on this planet is limited. Space for our junk—erm, treasures—is even more limited. Storing and archiving our photographs is no different, space is limited, and really, not every photograph is the work of art we hoped it would be, so why keep it. (more…)
